PayRequest vs Memberful

A Memberful alternative for paid posts and Discord access

A practical comparison

Choose by the business you want to run

When PayRequest fits

  • You want to publish paid posts on a hosted Page.
  • One recurring Page membership fits your offer.
  • Your community benefit consists of specific Discord roles through connected products.

When the other platform fits

  • You want a native membership plugin protecting an existing WordPress site.
  • You use tiered content, group plans or connected publishing tools that need individual assessment.
  • You rely on podcast/newsletter workflows whose replacement needs separate verification.

Compare the complete bill

Memberful Standard lists $49/month plus a 4.9% transaction fee. On a hypothetical $2,000 of member payments, that is $49 + ($2,000 × 4.9%) = $147 in Memberful plan and transaction charges, before processing, applicable taxes and individual agreements. This is an arithmetic example, not a customer saving.

Assess PayRequest separately in EUR: active Business is €20/month with 0% standard platform payment fees; provider charges and commission-payment exceptions remain separate. Business includes subscriptions and recurring billing. Check current availability and provider selection. This comparison does not silently convert USD into EUR.

Choose the content destination before the price model. A lower platform line does not automatically replace a WordPress paywall, private podcast feed or existing newsletter workflow. Use the worksheet to record benefit, product, destination and access owner for each offer.

What your customer actually does

1

Page posts

Create the Page membership, choose price and interval, and publish a post with a visible introduction and protected continuation. The Page supports one membership plan.

2

Access to the post

The member buys the membership, signs in with the email link and opens protected content while the relevant membership status qualifies.

3

A different benefit: Discord

Discord Memberships uses its own eligible products and server roles. The buyer must pay, connect their own Discord account and join the server. A Page membership does not automatically grant a Discord role.

Plan the next offer before moving existing members

  • List promised content and its current destination: WordPress, Page, newsletter, podcast or Discord. Record which functions are essential.
  • Preserve active subscriptions, paid-through dates and original terms. An export or the same Stripe account does not create a native PayRequest subscription.
  • Verify separately how new members purchase and sign in, how cancellation works, and where historical members retain their already-paid benefit.
  • For Discord, only purchases after product connection qualify. Free trials and provider-managed subscriptions are unsupported in that integration version.

Questions before choosing

Can PayRequest protect my existing WordPress content?

This comparison offers hosted Page posts and Discord products as sales routes. An equivalent WordPress membership plugin or automatic transfer of an existing paywall is not promised.

How many Page membership plans can I create?

The current Page membership feature has one recurring plan per Page. Discord products with their own roles are a separate access model.

Does a Page membership automatically grant a Discord role?

No. Discord access requires an eligible product connected to Discord Memberships and a server role.

Are Memberful payments automatically portable?

Verify billing, payment authorization, content entitlements and customer identity separately. Existing purchases are not automatically imported by the current Discord integration.
