Choose monthly membership pricing when members need a low-commitment way to test recurring value. Choose annual pricing when the full-year promise is clear and you can deliver it sustainably. Do not choose the interval from cash-flow preference alone: price the work, capacity and member outcome first.

PayRequest currently gives each Page one clear membership plan. That makes this a real choice rather than a tier-design exercise.

Compare the Two Commitments

Renewal momentsMore frequentOne main renewal per year

PayRequest's billing-cycle documentation supports monthly, quarterly and yearly subscription intervals. The interval belongs to the product; choose it before promoting the membership and test the resulting renewal date.

Calculate the Capacity Floor

Start with the monthly work the membership creates:

Work itemHours per month
Two protected posts8
Member questions and moderation6
One live session and follow-up4
Administration and failed payments2
Total20

If the owner needs €60 per working hour before tax and external costs, delivery capacity costs €1,200 per month. Add €180 for tools and a €120 operating buffer: the membership needs €1,500 monthly contribution before it funds anything else.

At €15 per month, that requires 100 paying members before payment-provider fees and taxes. At €25, it requires 60. This is a planning example, not a universal recommended price. Replace every assumption with your real workload, capacity and local tax treatment.

Convert Monthly Value Into an Annual Offer

Do not create an annual price by arbitrarily removing two months. First calculate:

  1. the undiscounted value: monthly price × 12;
  2. the cash-flow benefit of upfront payment;
  3. the support and fulfillment cost across a full year;
  4. the refund, cancellation and consumer obligations that apply;
  5. the maximum incentive you can fund without weakening delivery.

For a €25 monthly plan, the undiscounted annual value is €300. An annual price of €270 represents a €30 incentive. Record that as a deliberate acquisition cost and confirm the remaining contribution still pays for twelve months of delivery.

Match the Interval to the Benefit

Monthly fits a growing research feed, creator diary, exercise library or community where value arrives continually. Annual fits a professional association year, certification support cycle or stable reference library whose year-long scope can be described before checkout.

Avoid annual billing when the offer depends on unplanned “exclusive content.” A longer commitment requires a more concrete publishing and support promise, not a vaguer one.

Price One Clear PayRequest Membership

Create a membership name that states audience and recurring result. Set the price and interval, then explain the included posts, publishing rhythm, member access and cancellation route on the same Page.

PayRequest applies a changed price to future members while existing members retain the price attached to their current subscription. Treat a price change as a controlled version: record the old offer, new offer, effective date and which cohort receives each price.

Run a 12-Month Promise Test

Before launch, place every promised deliverable on a twelve-month capacity calendar. Mark holidays, launch periods and live-session limits. If the schedule only works in an ideal month, simplify the benefit or raise the price before accepting annual commitments.

Then test checkout, first access, renewal, failed payment and cancellation with a separate customer account. A good membership price is not merely attractive on the sales page; it funds a promise the team can keep.

Create one clear membership with PayRequest, publish the first protected resources and validate the complete member journey before promoting the price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should a new membership charge monthly or annually?

Monthly is usually easier when members are still learning the value. Annual works when the full-year promise is concrete, sustainable and worth the larger upfront commitment.

How do I calculate an annual membership discount?

Start with monthly price multiplied by twelve, then treat any reduction as a funded acquisition incentive. Confirm the annual price still covers twelve months of delivery, support, fees and operational buffer.

Can PayRequest memberships have multiple tiers?

Not currently on a single PayRequest Page membership. Each Page uses one clear membership plan, so choose the audience, benefit, price and interval deliberately.
