Use PayPal directly when its merchant checkout meets your buyers' payment preferences and you want the simplest provider relationship. Consider Payrexx when you need its broader payment-tool and local-method offering. You can also offer PayPal through Payrexx: the choice is not always one provider instead of the other.

For a Swiss or European seller sending payment links, the useful comparison is checkout coverage, the extra platform layer, settlement and order fulfillment. Do not compare a card-reader rate with a PayPal merchant-link transaction or assume every country has the same price.

Decide what the customer must be able to do

PayPal's merchant-link documentation describes hosted links, buttons and QR codes without a custom checkout build. This is a commercial checkout product, not just a personal PayPal.Me link. Available methods and account eligibility still need checking for your market.

Payrexx Paylink is also designed for sending a payment link to a customer. For Swiss sellers, its Swiss provider-selection guide highlights local methods such as TWINT. Verify the specific method, merchant country, currency and contract you need rather than relying on a global brand list.

If your must-have method is unavailable for your business, a lower quoted rate does not rescue the choice. If direct checkout already covers your customers, ask what additional sales or operational task the extra platform solves.

Separate the PayPal fee from the adapter fee

Payrexx's official PayPal integration documentation says an external-provider charge applies in addition to PayPal's fees, with a published range of 0.25% to 1.00%, depending on plan. It also says PayPal pays out those PayPal transactions directly. Adding a checkout layer does not mean all proceeds arrive in one Payrexx payout.

Use this hypothetical month to compare quotes: 60 orders at CHF 50 = CHF 3,000. Assume 24 orders use PayPal and 36 use other methods. The PayPal portion is CHF 1,200; the other-method portion is CHF 1,800. This is an invented planning mix, not measured buyer behavior.

External-adapter rate applied to the CHF 1,200 PayPal portionCalculationAdditional charge
0.25%CHF 1,200 × 0.0025CHF 3
0.50%CHF 1,200 × 0.005CHF 6
1.00%CHF 1,200 × 0.01CHF 12

These are sensitivity calculations within the documented range, not a quote or a complete Payrexx bill. Add the selected subscription, PayPal's actual charges, other-method processing, refunds, cross-border charges and currency conversion where applicable. Confirm whether any minimums or contract terms apply.

For the same 24 PayPal orders, compare:

Direct PayPal cost = applicable PayPal charges.
Layered PayPal cost = applicable PayPal charges + adapter charge + allocated platform subscription and tools.

The other 36 orders require their own method-specific rates. If removing the platform would remove a local method, do not pretend those orders would automatically pay with PayPal. The business case needs an explicit assumption about which sales remain possible.

Use the merchant fee schedule for your account country, such as PayPal's Swiss business fee page, and a current regional Payrexx proposal. We do not quote a regional Payrexx subscription amount here because the public page's displayed price and currency vary with localization.

Assign the order and the payout to their owners

For each route, prepare one order record containing the product or service, amount, currency, customer reference, payment provider, transaction reference and delivery status. Ask where staff can find the order if the buyer closes the browser after paying.

In the 60-order example, reconcile the 24 PayPal transactions with PayPal's records and the remaining transactions with the applicable settlement records. Do not expect one bank deposit to explain the whole sales month simply because checkout used one interface.

For digital goods, identify who hosts and delivers the file. For services, identify who confirms the booking or schedules the work. Request the vendor's demonstration of payment failure, refund and delivery handling before committing. These are proposed selection checks, not tests we have conducted.

Where PayRequest fits

If you need branded collection links and a clear selling workflow with an eligible supported provider, review PayRequest payment links. Check PayPal support for the relevant provider route, or digital products when automatic file delivery is part of the job.

PayRequest is not presented here as a Payrexx integration or a promise of TWINT support. If a particular local method is essential, verify it before choosing any alternative. Connecting a provider also does not remove that provider's charges.

PayRequest pricing offers Free at €0 with a 2% standard platform fee, Premium at €5/month and Business at €20/month with 0% standard platform fees while the paid plan is active. Provider charges and commission-payment exceptions remain separate. Convert currencies consistently before comparing this with a CHF quote.

If this focused workflow fits, create an account, connect an eligible provider and prepare one seller payment link. Confirm checkout and the order handoff before moving your existing sales links.
