Which PayPal link are you replacing?

PayPal.Me, app money requests and PayPal business Payment Links are different products. Choose based on the checkout you need, rather than assuming every PayPal link has the same limits.

PayPal.Me

Keep it if you need a familiar, reusable PayPal profile link. PayPal says a PayPal account is required to use PayPal.Me. It is not the same product as its business checkout links.

PayPal business Payment Links

Consider these first if you want a PayPal-hosted business checkout. PayPal offers no-code links, cards and eligible wallets; availability depends on your market and account.

Stripe Payment Links

A direct option for businesses already using Stripe. Create hosted checkout links without code for products, subscriptions or donations.

PayRequest

Choose it when payment links also need invoicing, reminders and billing workflows, or when you want to connect Stripe, Mollie or PayPal. Available payment methods depend on provider, country and account approval.

What does switching actually cost?

PayRequest adds a billing platform on top of your payment provider. It does not remove processing charges, currency conversion costs, disputes or provider account restrictions.

Worked example: ten standard €100 payments in one month cost €20 in Free platform fees, versus €5 for Premium. Provider charges apply in both cases. At €250/month of standard payments, 2% equals €5; above that amount Premium has lower platform costs, assuming no per-transaction cap affects the calculation. This is not a claim that PayRequest is cheaper than PayPal directly.

How to replace a PayPal.Me link

Start with one payment request before changing every public link. You cannot redirect a paypal.me address to another platform.

  1. 1

Create a PayRequest account and connect an eligible Stripe, Mollie or PayPal account. Complete any required provider verification.

  2. 2

Create a payment link with the amount and a clear description. Enable the payment methods supported by your provider and country.

  3. 3

Check the checkout and confirmation flow. Replace the old link in your emails, website and social profiles; existing PayPal transactions stay with PayPal.

PayPal payment link alternative FAQ

Can customers pay without a PayPal account?

Yes, if you offer a supported non-PayPal method such as card payments through Stripe or Mollie. PayPal guest checkout is a separate feature and its availability varies. Do not assume every PayPal business link requires a PayPal account.

Can I keep accepting PayPal?

Yes. Connect an eligible PayPal account in PayRequest. Other payment methods require the relevant supported provider and configuration.

Will switching bypass PayPal holds or account limits?

No. PayRequest does not override provider eligibility, verification, reserves, transaction limits or payout schedules.

Do all PayPal payment links expire after ten days?

No. PayPal documents a ten-day expiry for unclaimed send/request links in its US app flow. That rule should not be applied to PayPal.Me or every business Payment Link.
