Duve Alternatives: Choose the Right Rental Deposit Workflow

Replacing Duve for security deposits? Compare guest-suite dependencies, deposit fee bases and long-stay coverage with a worked rental example.

The right Duve alternative depends on whether you are replacing a guest-experience platform or only the way you collect a rental security deposit. Keep a guest suite when you still need its check-in, guest app or communications. A standalone deposit link is a narrower purchase and needs its own coverage and fee checks.

For direct-booking rental businesses, the most useful comparison is not a long list of hotel apps. It is a decision about which responsibilities must stay connected, what amount the deposit fee is calculated on, and who handles a failed authorization during a longer stay.

Decide which layer you are replacing

Duve's current plans combine online check-in and a branded guest app, with communication and other capabilities varying by package. Its listed minimum Basic package is $120/month. That is a suite price, not a standalone security-deposit quote. Check your applicable plan and add-on terms before comparing it with a collection-only tool.

RouteWhen to consider itWhat must be checked
Keep Duve or choose another guest suiteYou need integrated guest operationsCheck-in, messaging, property integrations and deposit behavior
Specialized deposit service, such as SwiklyDeposit collection is the main purchaseMechanism, eligibility, duration, claims conditions and full quote
Standalone PayRequest deposit linksGuest operations already have a suitable ownerConnected provider, actual expiry, capture/release and follow-up ownership

Swikly offers a dedicated online deposit route. Do not assume its security mechanism and conditions are identical to an ordinary card authorization. Use the existing Swikly alternatives comparison if that named-provider switch is your primary decision.

For a Duve switch, write down the guest tools you would lose. If a replacement leaves guest communication, check-in or access coordination without an owner, a cheaper deposit price is an incomplete comparison. PayRequest is not a full Duve guest-app or property-management replacement.

Compare the fee base, not just the percentage

Duve's security-deposit documentation states a 1% fee when each deposit is collected, once per reservation, with additional provider fees when claimed. Confirm the terms for your account. A deposit-handling charge and the amount ultimately captured for damage are different bases for a cost model.

Consider twenty hypothetical bookings, each with a €500 deposit. Assume two justified damage captures of €80. This is an original planning example, not a property result or recovery forecast.

InputCalculationAmount
Deposit amounts handled20 × €500€10,000
Fee at the documented 1% basis€10,000 × 0.01€100
Hypothetical damage captured2 × €80€160

The €100 is not 1% of €160. Calculating the fee on damage alone would produce €1.60 and materially understate this example's deposit-handling cost. The €100 also excludes the suite subscription and applicable additional charges; it is not a complete monthly quote.

Ask every alternative for the same inputs: twenty requests, €500 each, two captures of €80, supported country and chosen provider. Record charges for authorization, collection, capture, release, refunds and disputes only where the quoted terms apply. Do not enter zero because a fee is missing from a marketing headline.

Test a longer stay on paper before buying

Duve's deposit FAQ describes repeated authorization and acknowledges that it can fail. That matters when considering a simpler alternative: do not assume it inherits the suite's authorization scheduling or follow-up workflow.

Imagine authorization two days before arrival, a twelve-night stay, then one day for inspection. The desired coverage is 2 + 12 + 1 = 15 days, or 360 hours. These are hypothetical timing inputs. They do not establish that any provider will allow a single fifteen-day hold.

For each proposal, obtain the actual supported authorization window and the latest capture time. If the period is too short, ask whether a supported later authorization or reauthorization is available, whether it may fail, and who contacts the guest. An extended-authorization option must be confirmed for the account and method; it is not an automatic entitlement.

Use three buying outcomes:

  • Single authorization covers the required period: still monitor the actual transaction deadline and plan inspection before it.
  • A supported new authorization is required: assign scheduling, failure monitoring and guest contact to a named person or verified system.
  • No verified coverage route: change the collection plan or choose another solution before promising protection.

A saved card is not proof that funds are reserved. An expired hold cannot be captured merely because the rental agreement still permits a damage claim. Our card-on-file versus security-deposit comparison explains that distinction.

Where PayRequest fits

PayRequest security deposits provide a hosted link for an eligible provider-backed authorization. The workflow records the provider deadline and supports a justified capture or release within the applicable limits. Read the actual request status and deadline rather than relying on a generic duration.

Create a separate payment for rental revenue; a damage authorization is not rental income. After inspection, release the hold if no charge is justified, or follow the supported capture process and retain the agreed evidence. Bank display timing and disputes remain separate from pressing a release or capture button.

Before choosing PayRequest, check the current plan, supported provider, concurrent-deposit needs and relevant charges. Keep your guest tools where needed. If this narrower division works, create an account, connect an eligible provider and prepare the first deposit link around a realistic arrival, return and inspection schedule.
